Kukucrate – “REVIEW“

All those who have been following Momsters know that we are very particular about engaging our kids in age-appropriate activities. Weekends give us all the more reason to indulge in some activity as a family that Zoe/Zefan will benefit from. Zoe loves colors and she loves helping her mom and dad in whatever craft activities we do. She does end up messing the project and herself up, but I strongly believe it’s all worth it.

When Charu Agarwal (the person behind Kukucrate) contacted Momsters to do a review for their product, I was super excited. Their boxes offer theme based, hands-on learning projects designed for kids between 3-8 years. Though Zoe is just 2.3 years old but I wanted to see her reaction, and boy… did she have fun or what. It was more work on her parents part and less on hers but she loved being with us, inspecting what we did.

So… what is Kukucrate?

Kukucrate are monthly boxes which provide a theme and activity-based learning platform for kids.  Projects combine arts, science, crafts, and more, which inspire creativity, learning, growth, and fun. They strive at solving the problem of “How to keep kids engaged in a fun way?".

The Kukucrate boxes are designed by a panel of experts which include parents, teachers, child development experts, and artists. All the projects are backed with extensive research and are guided by their design principles of creativity, growth, fun, and learning. All projects help in development of motor skills, cognitive, sensorial, logical & mathematical abilities, interpersonal skills, linguistic, and discovery skills.

Our Experience and the March Kukucrate?

The theme for March 2013 was Splash of Color. This Kukucrate celebrates the spirit of Holi and it contains activities which involve a lot of color. When I placed the box in front of Zoe, her eyes were full of excitement. She opened the box and took out the contents one by one… every time she took something out her eyes became bigger and all she said was “Wow”. Two thumbs up for that.
See what I told you she loved exploring the box!

She loved the Pipe cleaners, but we had to be extra careful... As the team of Kukucrate knew this might happen... there was a warning printed in bold "Pipe cleaners have sharp edges. Intended for children 4 and above, use under parental supervision. Thanks so much Kukucrate... we were very careful.

Splash of Color Kukucrate contained:

Our Sun Catcher.
  • Make a Sun Catcher which you can hang at your window and see your room brighten. Zoe loved working with the streamers in this activity.
  • Canvas Bag Painting was the best part of the box if you ask me. Zoe has been flaunting her bag since morning.

  • Pot of Gold was an activity inspired by St. Patrick’s Day and was based on Irish Culture.

  • Color Wheel project was done by Dad and he loved getting all messed up along with Zoe.
  • Needless to say, Zoe loved the Hue La-La book which was based on colors. We’ve already read it to her more than 10 times.

What Momsters loved about Kukucrate:

  • It was a great way to spend time with your child, seeing her laugh, get messy, learn and above all enjoy herself. Perfect way to bond with your little one.
  • Kukucrate contained everything which we needed for all the 4 activities, and everything was of high quality. Attention to the minutest detail was given.
  • It is a perfect box for parents who are busy and still want to take out time for their children.
  • The Kukucrate is based on a monthly theme, hence every month your child will be in for a surprise.
  • This month’s activities were very good for your child’s sensorial skills, motor skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Each activity was explained beautifully. The pot of gold gave us a glimpse of culture and tradition of another country.
  • All the activities inform us about the level of messiness and adult involvement.
  • Trivia was provided for each and every activity we did.
