Music and your Little One!

When we are really in a bad state of mind, music has the ability to make our mood better instantly. Children are no different… Infants and toddlers enjoy and benefit from music as much as adults do. Research suggests ‘Exposing young children to music for few years help improve their adult brain. Introducing some form of music in childhood goes a long way in improving how the brain functions in adulthood when it comes to listening and the complex processing of sound’ according to a new Northwestern University study.

Music tends to have a positive effect on children… their entire learning … like comprehension, expression, vocabulary, listening ability. Music also has an amazing effect on your child’s social and emotional development, besides others.

Momsters brings to you three such programs which we know about. These programs are held in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Momsters has been a part of (and a huge fan of) Mozartsy (Delhi) and Rhythm N Rhyme (Bangalore). We have heard a lot about Musical Bonding (held in Mumbai) through parents in Mumbai.

Mozartsy (Based in Delhi and conduct sessions in other places as well):

Morzartsy is a unique initiative workshop which aims at help your child explore music and musical instruments at an early stage. These sessions see children, parents and music come together. Mozartsy offers professionally crafted workshops for children in a teaching studio. They also include AV teaching aids and all types of Indian and western musical instruments that children under five have never had access before the session. Mozartsy also offers guitar & keyboard training for all ages. Sonam the person behind Mozartsy is a trained music teacher and a voice artist. By seeing her toddlers enjoy music, Sonam planned on bringing music to other children. After a detailed research she began summer workshops for kids. These workshops received a tremendous response. Mozartsy conducts various workshops:
  • MOZARTSY™ Exploring Musical Instruments With 1-5yr Olds
  • RHYME & CHIME™– Introduction to Music Concepts for 1-5yr Olds
  • RHAPSODY™ - Individual Lessons on Musical Instruments for All Ages
  • MUSIC FOR THE SPIRIT & WOMB™ – Music Workshops for Expecting Mothers

Musical Bonding (Mumbai):

This is a Mumbai based child and parent program devoted to the physical, social and emotional growth of your little one, Musical Bonding caters to children between 6 months to 5 years. They have specially created music and movements, the program will introduce your child to various musical instruments, beats, rhythms, scales, tones, pitches along with body movements. The Musical Bonding sessions are held in fun, group play environment where both the parents and the child participate. The person behind Musical Bonding is Aditi Shah. She was based in US and worked as an architect for 7 years. When she shifted to Mumbai, she realized she couldn’t go back to a full time architectural career with 2 small children to take care of. That’s when she started Musical Bonding, and now they have 12 instructors taking classes.

Their music helps stimulate young minds and they bring out kid’s personality. The dance steps aid in improving coordination, balance and sensory stimuli and also reinforce much needed social skills in a group. Children enjoy singing and dancing as they get their first taste of musical beats and rhythms. Their music selection is provided by The Music Class. Musical Bonding started in December 2009 and they have not looked back since. They have classes across 12 locations in Mumbai.

You can check Musical Bonding on Facebook or their website http://www.musicalbonding.com for more details.
