Mothercare Pod Steam Sterilizer Green (Review)

It seems so long back when I last used the Mothercare Pod Steam Sterilizer for The Toddler. I guess almost a year back, when she was a year old. I'm still in love with the product, and since a mommy was checking about sterilizers on our Facebook group, I decided to review the product.

Mothercare Pod Steam Sterilizer comes in 2 versions - with and without an LCD monitor. Everything else is pretty much the same. The one with the LCD monitor costs more. I used the one without the LCD monitor.

If you go for Sterilizer shopping, this will sure stand out because of it's looks. It is stylish and extremely easy to use -  completely hassle free. It is designed like a ball, and to me it looked like a penguin. I will have to admit, I picked it because of it's looks (yeah pregnancy does make you go pretty crazy).

If I have to choose 2 words to describe the Mothercare Pod Steam Sterilizer, I'd say stylish and easy-to-use... without thinking twice. The tray in which you place bottles can hold upto 6 bottles in 8 minutes (you can also sterilize teats, spoons, bowls and other baby utensils which can be steamed). You have to pour around 180 ml of water, put on the lid and switch the sterilizer on. You do not need to keep a check, it switches off automatically. The lid can be placed on the sterilizer easily on top. At the base of the sterilizer there are 3 sturdy non-slip feet. You need to leave the bottles for 5 minutes after they're sterilized to cool it down. A bottle brush and pair of teat tongs are also provided with the sterilizer.

Once the sterilizer has done its job, you can dismantle it easily, wash it and assemble it.

Pros:
  • Besides the look and convenience, the time in which you can sterilize your bottles is so less you wouldn't realize and it will be done.
  • It is stylish, but that doesn't mean it is not sturdy
  • I used it for a good 9-10 months (and I used it very frequently), I didn't face it a single problem with the sterilizer.
Cons:
  • It's best if you use Avent bottles, other makes (which are slim and tall) don't fit in.
  • It does come at a high price and for the non-LCD variety you need to pay Rs. 5499
  • There are compact sterilizers available but I haven't used them.Mothercare Pod Steam Sterilizer is not compact.
Go for it if looks, durability & convenience matter to you, even at a high price.
