Reduce, reuse and recycle your trash into fun crafts!

This week Zefan learnt the alphabet “R” in school and as a standard procedure they have a “show & tell” time in class for the particular alphabet they have learnt. This activity basically reinforces the sound of that alphabet in a practical manner using tangible material. The children were asked to make simple things using recycled material, this helped them in two ways-one it supports the alphabet “R” and two, it teaches them the importance of recycling in a fun & interesting way.

While helping him with his craft activity, we put together a bunch of ideas that parents & kids can have fun with while using recycled items. Here are a few that our readers might like.

Have any old CD's lying around? Make these fun fish with the kiddos.

We all have tons of broken crayons at home & we really don’t know what to do with them? Here's a solution, melt them down and create new crayons in interesting shapes. You can see the way to recycle crayons here

Now this one is a winner all the way, it gets children come close to nature while creatively using old trash. This one is my absolute favourite.

How can you turn a toilet paper tube into a racer cars? Take this idea for a spin.

Add a little personalized touch to your gifts by giving them away in your own handmade gift bags. This beautiful gift bag was made by 4 year old Agastya with a little help from his creative mommy Subhadra. Isn’t it beautiful?

Turn an old tissue box into a guitar alongwith your little one & see the rockstar in them come to life. Here are some rocking guitars made by li’l Samaira & Yohan with help from their mothers who are both coincidentally called Pooja.

Next time if your little one insists on a new play house, just put in some creativity using old cartons & voila you have a beautiful house ready that your child will love making. Here is a dazzling house done by Teha with mom Sonia helping her.

I am sure these artsy-craftsy children have inspired you enough by now to help get your kid work on some trash lying around your house & convert it into something beautiful.

Reduce, reuse and recycle your trash! It’s FUN.!!!
