Let’s take a few minutes out & discuss with your kids the importance of going green this Diwali & make them environmentally conscious individuals.
Here are a few useful points you could discuss with your child.
- Be shopping wise-buy recyclable items that can be used again the next year & so on.
- Community celebrations as opposed to individual ones aid reduction in pollution & are also cost effective.
- Opt for traditional lighting methods that help reduce electricity consumption.
- Gift a smile by helping the underprivileged.
- Celebrate with crackers that produce colorful sparks but emit significantly less sound and smoke.
- Celebrate in places away from hospital.
Discuss with them the adverse effects of fire crackers like how crackers cause air & sound pollution resulting in smog. Smog leads to respiratory issues. Teach them about the importance to adhere to the 10pm to 6am ban on crackers. Tell your children how crackers disturb animals immensely, they are scared of loud noises. Ever year hundreds of birds, cats and dogs die due to excessive cracker bursting.
We are sure that by addressing these issues with your children they will understand the importance of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali. Inspire them to do their bit for the environment.
So, ‘Say No To Crackers’.
Wishing you a happy and safe Diwali!
