Make your Disposable Diaper Experience Happy

Disposable diapers are the commonly used now a days by mums around the world. They are one of the prime requirement of the infant/toddler years till your child is completely potty trained. New Moms always stress about how the choose the right brand and the right kind of diaper for the baby. The biggest positive when it comes to disposable diapers is convenience. A diaper lasts longer and you don't have to worry about washing to reuse them.  Pediatricians say disposable diapers keep skin dryer for longer, lessening rash. There are many advantages of cloth diapers, but that needs a separate post.

If you decide to go for disposable diaper, you have to get the size right. Picking diapers for your newborn: Most new moms get really confused when they go to buy a diaper for the first time. Not all babies are similar, neither are all diapers. Do not stock up new born diapers during pregnancy or right after your baby is born. As even if your baby wears a newborn diaper s/he would grow out of it. Like in my case The Toddler was born at 2.4 kgs and most new born diapers were big for her and and I had to make do with Pampers New Born (size 1), she outgrew that size within a month.

Brand: You will have to try out the different brands (at least the popular ones available). Pampers was the 1st brand I picked, I tried Huggies and MamyPoko, but I came back on Pampers - I use international Pampers now. Brands available in India:
  • Pampers (New Born Diaper, Active Baby, Pant Style)
  • Huggies (New Born Diaper, Total Protection, Dry Diapers, Diaper Pants)
  • Mamy Poko Pants
  • Wipro
  • Evy Baby
  • Garfield
  • Teddyy
  • Magic Baby
  • Snuggy

Buying a Diaper: Disposable diapers come at a price, so try and check online offers, use coupons... there are plenty of options available.

Styles: There are many varieties, pant style, one with tape or Velcro, extra absorbent, etc.

Fit: Make sure the diaper you choose fit snugly but are not very tight.

I hope with these tips a new mom will be in a better position to buy diapers that suit the baby.
