French Toast Sticks

The Toddler loves French Toast, I guess most of the kids love it (at least the kids I know do). I was bored of making the same kind of French Toast for her, so this is something I tried... French Toast Sticks. These became an instant hit, the best thing I like about them is I can store them in the freezer for 3-4 days.

Ingredients- the ingredients mentioned in bracket are the ones I use when I want to make these sticks for myself :-)

  • 2 slices of white bread (brown bread)
  • 2 tbs melted butter (Amul Lite)
  • 1 small egg (Egg White)
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • vanilla essence

Directions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius
  • Cut bread slices in 3 or 4 pieces and make sticks.
  • Take a bowl, mix eggs, butter, sugar, vanilla essence, cinnamon and milk. Whisk well.
  • Dip the bread sticks in the mixture and keep it on the cookie tray (grease the tray with a little cooking oil)
  • I usually drizzle the dip (if any is left) over the sticks.
  • Bake for 25 minutes on middle rack of oven.
  • Turn the sticks after 12 minutes.
  • Allow the sticks to cool.
  • Freeze the sticks on cookie sheet for 30 minutes. Store them in Zip Lock and store them in the freezer (can be kept for 3-4 days)
  • When you want to reheat keep sticks on a microwave-safe tray and heat on high for a minute until warm. To enhance its taste serve with Maple Syrup.
