Momsters (M): Who is Niyatee Sharma?
Niyatee (N): I am an Interior Architect by profession. My partner and I are both in the creative field. We love playing the Guitar and growing vegetables on our terrace garden. My son is 3+ and he loves to create his own toys using all sorts of junk lying around the house.
M: Before you became a mom... (Before you became a mom, what were you involved in?)
N: I was involved in the furniture and retail design {store design} sector.
M: Can you tell us more about your business? What is it about?
N: Squiggle is about toys and furniture for children. Each piece at Squiggle is inspired by the natural world with clean modern lines and abstract shapes. We have been into business for over 2 years.

M: How did you come up with this idea?
N: When I was scouting for a rocker for my 1 year old in 2011, I discovered markets flooded with products that were made of plastic / mass manufactured/ heavily inspired by cartoons. And that is when I felt the need to create a line of furniture and toys for children that are truly inspirational for children and closer to creativity, nature and crafted by the hand.
M: What inspired you to start a venture of your own?
N: After I designed and prototyped the first rocker for my son, a friend of mine encouraged me to design more pieces and offer it to other like minded parents out there.

M: Were there any obstacles that you faced when you decided to pursue becoming a mompreneur? What are these?
N: Actually once I decided to start doing this, things quite naturally fell into place one after the other. It was all about staying inspired and not giving up, but there are many challenges that I still face today like not having a fixed - at a stretch work period.

M: Is entrepreneurship for every mom?
N: Perhaps not. I am not sure. I personally make a better designer than an entrepreneur!

M: Is the professional personal? Do you find that you sometimes need to create boundaries between home life and work life?
N: Yes if possible one should have a different physical space to work out of and a fixed time slot. With me that is not a possibility at the moment and I am constantly juggling between home life and work life which I find is a big challenge.
