Buying a car seat

Car Seat has now become an essential for kids in India, though some parents still do not want to buy one as they are expensive. Car seats are the safest way to carry your kids (especially your babies and toddlers) in the car. safety needs to be the prime concern when it comes to buying a car seat for your child. Next you need to age, height and weight of your child and the size of your car as well.

If you have a car, then it is best to invest in a car seat when the baby is born. Before you buy, make sure you try the car seat before buying one. Not all car seats fit in all cars.

Rear Facing infant car seat

Travel System
While buying a seat for your baby choose a rear-facing infant seat, or a convertible seat. The later, can be used as a rear car seat and converted into a front facing seat. When you buy a convertible seat, it would be better as a convertible seat lasts longer. An infant seat on the other hand is more user friendly as it can be taken out of the car easily and babies can be carried in an infant car seat. Some infant seats are for babies till 10 kgs and some of them are meant for kids till 13 kgs. If you have a rear-facing car seat it is safest to keep your babies in that position for the maximum time. So if your car seats allows around 13 kgs of weight, upgrade once your baby reaches 13 kgs.

Front Facing Car Seat
The next car seat is for toddlers and up which is good for a baby between 9-20 kgs. Try buying a car seat with detachable, machine washable covers. Your toddlers are sure to mess up the car seats more than your babies. After this you can upgrade to a Booster seat meant for kids from 20-36 kgs

Booster Seat

If you want to invest in an infant seat, try buying in a complete travel system. Here you get a stroller and an infant seat at a better price. If your infant seat is belongs to a travel system, you can easily slip it straight on the baby's pram.

Do pick a branded car seat, though they are a little expensive, they are safer than local brands.
