Books on Self Esteem

Alvin Price said: 'As Parents we need to fill a child's bucket of self esteem so high... that the rest of the world cannot poke enough holes to drain it dry.'

I shared a picture on the Best Books 10 Children Books on Self-Esteem and thought of compiling this list. I think instilling self-esteem in kids is extremely crucial. These books might help you teach just that to your little ones. These are some beautiful books I have had the privilege of reading and I loved them.

Giraffes Can't Dance - A giraffe called Gerald, wants to dance just like the rest of his friends but he can't move his feet to their music. Will he ever be able to get into the groove? Will a friendly cricket show him the right moves.

Autistic? How Silly Is That!: I Don’t Need Labels At All -I think this is a one of its kind of book and I love it. The narrator is an Autistic and portrays the situation in the book beautifully. Being autistic is just an aspect of the beautiful personality of various children in the world.

Unlovable - A beautiful ... wonderful book for teaching the meaning of friendship. It helps building self-esteem which is extremely important. It helps children know they should never try to be someone other than what or who they are. I fell in love with the story instantly.

I'm Gonna Like Me : Letting off a Little Self-Esteem - I picked up the book just after reading it's title and I love it.  I have recently started reading this one to Zoe and she likes the story a lot. The book tells yourself to celebrate yourself and that is beautiful.

Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun - Ralph and Lucy show us how to have the courage and stand by who you are.

A bad case of Stripes - David Shanon cannot go wrong... Can he?
Colour-Colour Kamini - Kapila Aunty is teaching the little chameleons how to change colour, one at a time. But Kamini gets excited and goes red, purple, green, yellow . . .she can’t stop! In the end, Kamini is put to good use because of her special colour changing tactics.

Elmer - David McKee has a winner here with his adorable patch-work elephant Elmer.

Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes - I just love "Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes"! The protagonist 'Pete' tells us how to accept the adversity of change by just a simple "It's all good!"

This is Our House - A perfect pick that talks about tolerance, acceptance and cooperation.

Amazing Grace - The beautiful book talks about diversity and acceptance. Grace loves stories (in any kind and form). She gets to know her school is performing Peter Pan and she knows which role she wants... will she get it?

A Color of His Own - Every animal has a distinct colour of it's own.... all except a chameleon. The chameleon in the story misses having a colour of its own, till another chameleon companion changes his opinion.
